Our client is a small IT Support and Services provider based at the University of Southampton Science Park in Hampshire.

Thy are expanding and therefore have an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Engineer to join their dedicated and highly responsive team.

Key Responsibilities of the IT Support Engineer:

  • Perform 1st and 2nd Line Support and where required assist with 3rd Line Support
  • Record details of IT incidents and service requests and working to resolve these
  • Work on client site for extended period
    • Out of hours support
    • Good memory and attention to detail
    • Ability to work in a team and independently, keen to learn and must be proactive

The systems to be supported will include:

  • Physical and Virtual Microsoft Server environments
  • Microsoft Office 365, both In-house and Hosted - Excellent knowledge required
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Email Security and Web Filtering
  • Remote Access and VPN, Anti-virus and Security Management
  • Firewall, Router and Switch Management
  • Assist with Web Scoping, Planning, Development, Management & Maintenance
  • Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Domain Name Management
  • Websites and Information Portals

Skills & Experience Required:
The IT Support Engineer MUST have a good working knowledge and experience of the following (installed and supported):

  • Microsoft Windows 7 and 10, Latest Versions of Microsoft Windows Server including 2008, 2012 and 2016, Latest Versions of Microsoft Office, Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Group Policy
  • Virtualisation - VMware
  • TCP/IP
  • Email Security and Web Filtering
  • Anti-virus solution
  • Firewalls, Routers and Switches
  • Understanding but preferably a working knowledge of web technologies including .NET, ASP, C# and PHP
  • Driving licence and vehicle are required for business travel

In return, the IT Support Engineer can expect;
